We vigorously oppose the latest maneuvers of the (Donald) Trump administration in threatening Venezuela with further sanctions and the menace of military action.
The following statement was sent to the World Solidarity Summit in Venezuela on behalf of activists based in Canada.

Jorge Arreaza Montserrat
Popular Power Minister of Foreign Relations
The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela

Participants in the World Summit, “We are All Venezuela for Peace, Sovereignty and Bolivarian Democracy," Caracas, Sept. 16-19, 2017.

We, activists involved in solidarity with the Bolivarian Revolution from the Ottawa, Montreal, Toronto and Quebec City regions of Canada, meeting today, Sept. 16, in the embassy of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in Ottawa as part of activities in Canada:

Send our greetings to the activists in Canada demonstrating this weekend in other cities, and to the peoples in other continents likewise carrying out support activities,

Send our greetings to the delegation from Canada currently in Caracas,

Send our greetings to the Venezuelan Minister of Foreign Relations and all the Venezuelan and international participants in the Caracas event,

We hail this initiative by Venezuela in organizing this worldwide activity as a historic step in furthering international support for the just cause of Venezuela’s rights to peace, sovereignty and democracy, and through this extraordinary effort we are contributing toward the isolation of the forces in the West that favor interference in the internal affairs of Venezuela,

We demand that the Canadian government change its current course and, instead, open a path based on the respect for full mutual relations with Venezuela by drawing a clear line between Canadian and U.S. foreign policy, which is based on aggression and bullying so much detested by Canadians from all walks of life,

We vigorously oppose the latest maneuvers of the (Donald) Trump administration in threatening Venezuela with further sanctions and the menace of military action which only harm the interests of the American and Venezuelan peoples, and risk to inflame the situation in the whole region which opposes U.S. military intervention,

We take note with a great deal of pride the advances being made in the National Constituency Assembly, such as the one held on Sept. 7, with President Nicolas Maduro addressing it, as a remarkable demonstration of participatory democracy,

We also admire very much Venezuela’s assistance provided to the Caribbean nations hit by Hurricane Irma as yet another demonstration of Hugo Chavez’s international solidarity legacy,

We stand unwaveringly with the Bolivarian Revolution and pledge to step up our work on Venezuela.

We await with much interest the results of the Caracas meeting.
