Just meters from the Kremlin in Russia, the Mexican cultural extravaganza is easily accessible to visiting football fans from around the world.

'A Taste of Mexico' is bringing the North American nation's vibrant culture to the streets of Moscow in Russia as the 2018 World Cup finally kicks off.

"The idea is that people have a place to enjoy football and Mexico at the same time," said Project Director Javier Ruiz Galindo, following a presentation at the Mexican embassy in Russia's capital.

Russia is a "wonderful country" that in many ways resembles Mexico, Galindo said. Out of the eight 'Probadita' or 'Taste' events, this year's Moscow version does the greatest justice to the Latin American nation's colorful culture.

Just meters from the Kremlin, the event is accessible to football fans from around the world. Exhibitions celebrate key themes associated with Mexican culture, such as a display honoring the Day of the Dead and Huichol art, as well as mouthwatering gastronomic venues.

Also planned for the month-long cultural exposition are fashion shows, concerts, festivals and food tasting. At least 5,000 people of the 25,000 football enthusiasts traveling to Moscow are expected to visit the Mexican extravaganza.

Norma Pensado, Mexico's ambassador to Russia, said: "This event is also an important step in the strengthening of relations between Mexico and Russia, which are in a process of reactivation."

'A Taste of Mexico' launched June 14 and is due to continue throughout the World Cup celebrations.
