The Iranian Foreign Minister referred to the little support given to Iran by France, the United Kingdom and Germany to deal with US sanctions.
The oil tanker’s detention already ended last week, but a United States federal court issued a warrant Friday for further detention.
Earlier this week, the Iranian tanker was issued a release by the Gibraltar authorities after being detained for more than a month.
While both Britain and Iran deny planning to swap the vessels, there has been a widespread expectation that the British-flagged ship will not be freed until the Iranian tanker is released.
Gibraltar's Chief Justice Anthony Dudley is quoted in the Guardian as saying the “the ship would have sailed,” by now were it not for the request by Washington.
