The ex-captain of the elite military police battalion received that honor by Bolsonaro´s order.

In a press conference in Río de Janeiro, the right-wing Brazilian President said: “I requested my son to decorate ( to Nóbrega), to clear all doubts. He was a hero, I commanded him, you can put that on me”.

Flavio Bolsonaro, Jair Bolsonaro´s first born son, gave the Tiradentes Medal to Adriano Magalhães da Nóbrega back in 2005, when he was in prison and accused of the assassination.  The ex-captain of the elite military police battalion received that honor by Bolsonaro´s order.

Other information links Bolsonaro to Nóbrega: as the local news media Brasil da Fato affirms,  Raimunda Veras Magalhães, and  Danielle Mendonça da Costa da Nóbrega, Nóbrega´s mother and wife respectively, were part of Flavio Bolsonaro´s cabinet until last November.

Furthermore, a member of the Legislative Assembly of the State of Rio de Janeiro is trying to minimize the consequences of his relationship with Nóbrega´s family and his past acts as a functionary:” (...) on relation to the homage to the military, I always acted in defense of the public security agents and gave hundreds of honors,” he said on his Facebook profile.

Da Nóbrega was the main suspect for Marielle Franco´s assassination in March of 2018, when she served as a councilor in Rio de Janeiro. Black advocated for the civil rights of queer people, the fewer solvent neighborhoods and denounced the injustices of the paramilitary.

Even when the police forces captured two suspects, both former police, the alleged head of the crime and leader of the organization “crime office”  remained uncaptured until February 9, when he was shot by police. According to some sources, Nóbrega feared to be killed to “eliminate evidence”.
