"He told me I should sue the EU," May told TV host Andrew Marr, adding that Trump said, “sue the EU, not go into negotiations with them, sue them.”

British Prime Minister (PM) Theresa May has revealed that U.S. President Donald Trump has advised her to "sue the European Union (EU)."

Trump said, on Friday, during a joint press conference that he had given her a suggestion that she found too "brutal," regarding the Brexit negotiations with the EU. May was asked on a BBC television show, The Andrew Marr Show, about this advice to which she revealed: "He told me I should sue the EU," May told the host, adding that Trump said, “sue the EU, not go into negotiations with them, sue them.”

May dismissed the advice and said, "actually we are going into negotiations with them."

As the PM previously underlined, Brexit would restore national sovereignty. During last week discussions on the subject, then-Brexit Secretary David Davis and then-Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson, resigned as a form of protest against Theresa May's position on the matter.

Donald Trump's four-day visit to the United Kingdom was met by multitudinary demonstrations around the country. Citizens who took the streets to protest the U.S. president's visit unfurled a "Donald Trump: Human Rights Nightmare" banner on Vauxhall Bridge, opposite the U.S. Embassy.

On Sunday, as part of his European tour, Trump is scheduled to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Helsinki, where a new round of demonstrations is expected
