The practice allows homosexuality to be treated as a “disease.”
Thousands of demonstrators took to the streets of Sao Paulo to show their anger.
The military police intervened and scuffles broke out with the protesters.

Earlier this week a Brazilian federal court judge Waldemar de Carvalho overturned the ban on the "therapy" which had been in place for almost 20 years.
De Carvalho's decision reversed a 1999 Federal Council of Psychology, CFP, ruling prohibiting licensed psychologists from attempting to “convert” people who identify as LGBTI.
Coming a week after a bank cancelled an exhibition of gay art after protests from rightwing and evangelical Christian groups, the ruling raised fears that progressive policies could be overturned.
