The Palestinian Foreign Minister, Riyad Maliki, arrived in Venezuela this Tuesday on his first official visit this year to strengthen the relations between both nations, as well as to prepare an agenda for the meeting of the Special Committee for Palestine by the Movement of Non-Aligned Countries, NAM, in Ethiopia.
Maliki was received in the Montesacro room of the Simón Bolívar International Airport, by Venezuelan Foreign Minister Jorge Arreaza. "I come as a special envoy from the Palestinian president, Mahmoud Abbas, to convey a message of solidarity, support and fraternal friendship between my country and Venezuela," he said.

Upon arrival, the diplomat reiterated that both countries share the fight against the enemy which is imperialism (United States) and, in the case of Palestine, against Zionism (Israel). "It is necessary to discuss the steps we have to take to confront the conspiracy that attacks both Venezuela and Palestine," he said.
The Palestinian Foreign Minister indicated that "from this Wednesday we will be in working meetings" to establish joint guidelines on the defense of the Palestinian cause at the next meeting of NAM.
Economic relations will also be discussed during the official visit of the Palestinian chancellor. Arreaza said that many Palestinians are interested in investing in Venezuela.
