"Dialogue, as we stated, is fundamental to resolve any conflict," the president said.

President Daniel Ortega announced on Sunday that the Board of Directors of the National Institute of Social Security (INSS) decided to repeal resolution 1317 of April 16 of this year.

The president invited the Catholic Church to participate in the dialogue as guarantors of peace, while reiterating his call for a broad dialogue on the reforms of social security laws, tax reforms, among other issues.

President Daniel Ortega called on the Nicaraguan people on Sunday to stop acts of violence in that country.

"We always regret the violent acts that have occurred and express solidarity to the families of the victims, and we call on the Nicaraguan people to cease acts of violence."

"We much appreciate and recognize all the messages we have received so that peace and security in our country can be restored. I emphasize the message of Pope Francis, because that is what we want, that the violence ceases. Dialogue, as we stated, is fundamental to resolve any conflict, "said the president.

In context

The Government approved on April 16 the reform of the INSS ( Social Security Institute) after several negotiation tables during 2017, with the objective of distributing responsibilities between companies and workers, and thus avoid the privatization of the service.

During a series of protests against the reform of the INSS, at least 11 people lost their lives when violent groups tried to occupy the seat of the mayor of Tipitapa, a fact that was described by the vice president of the country, Rosario Murillo, as a hate crime.

On the other hand, on Friday night, groups of vandals set fire to the facilities of the University Center of the National University (CUUN) of León and the Oscar Danilo Rosales School Hospital, among others.
