Invited to the meeting as his country holds the presidency of the Non-Aligned Movement countries, Maduro emphasized his dedication to the advancement of justice and peace, particularly in matters related to technology and innovation in favor of all peoples.

“We believe that the preservation and promotion of inclusive multilateralism is the most effective tool to address rising global challenges that we confront today,” he said.

The Venezuelan head of state reiterated the importance of unity and collaboration between the OIC and NAM, considering that both organizations were established to attain common goals.

He stressed the importance of the defense and continuation of the peaceful resolution of controversial geopolitical issues, as well as the promotion of particpatory democracy, development and respect for all human rights.

While rejecting the use of threats, unilateral sanctions and interventionist policies to resolve pressing international political issues, Maduro, speaking on behalf of NAM countries reiterated an end to Israel's illegal occupation of Palestinian territory.

"From Venezuela, revolutionary and Bolivarian Venezuela, we profoundly believe that the time has arrived for dialogue, a profound dialogue of cultures” to advance toward “a world without wars, without terrorism,” he concluded.

Founded in 1969, the OIC boasts a collective population of 1.6 billion people among all participating states as of 2008. The pan-Muslim organization has permanent delegations representing all members in the United Nations and European Union.
