"This project is born of a need to recognize digital stars beyond their popularity and give them the merit as storytellers," said Raze official, Mari Urdaneta.

Latin America’s most talented creatives will be receiving their own awards ceremony after a partnership between Turner Latin America and Raze media company was announced during the Cannes Film Festival Wednesday.

"We are super proud to be able to launch the Raze awards together with our friends from TNT,” said Mari Urdaneta, Raze’s chief content director.

"This project is born of a need and request of talent and fans who want to recognize their digital stars beyond their popularity and give them the merit they deserve as content creators and storytellers. The Raze Awards are truly the first co-created prizes from creators to creators,” Urdaneta said.

The first event will be held next September and feature personalities and artists from across the continent, representing each country. Digital creators will be selected by fans, a creators committee, as well as a table of the foremost pioneers in the industry.

Latin America is considered one of the fastest growing populations and the most coveted for its influence in rising trends within the entertainment industry, said Turner Executive Tomas Yankelevich.

“Turner understands that the generation of content occurs from many places and involves multiple actors. With this awards ceremony, together with (Mari Urdaneta) and the great Raze team, we seek to give visibility to those digital celebrities who represent millions of fans, showing not only who they are, but also all their talent,” Yankelevich said.

Raze is among the top regional intelligent entertainment producers and is focused on marketing Latin American content, from short films to TV programs. It was founded by ex-Fox Television Studios president Emiliano Calemzuk, actress Sofia Vergara, and Latin World Entertainment’s Luis Balaguer.

Turner Latin America, owned by WarnerMedia, controls the vast majority of global media from sports and news broadcasting with CNN and El Digital to daytime television with Cartoon Network, Boomerang, and TNT.
