The fair in the Middle of the World, as its capital is known, will take place until Nov. 19 in the Bicentennial Convention Center.
FIL Quito 2017 includes readings by Ecuadorean and international writers and other activities to bring authors together with readers.
For visitors, there will be open forums, roundtables, poetry readings, and a special session on women writers, with guests from Bolivia, Colombia, Cuba, and local writers.
The fair usually invites a country to be its honored guest, but this year it will instead honor the province of Manabi, one of the areas most affected by the earthquake of April 16, 2016. The province also has a large tradition in arts and culture.
For kids, there will be an area called World Labyrinth and games to include literature.
No hay dos días iguales en la feria. Cada día es una experiencia distinta.
