The La Roja men are scheduled to play a friendly match against Japan on Friday at the Sapporo Dome located in Sapporo, the capital of Hokkaido. The Chilean outfit is expected to give a formidable showing despite failing to qualify for the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

Though their Japanese counterparts played in the tournament, the Asians did not make it beyond the group stages.

"What good images! Review the best postcards of the first training at court in Sapporo, Japan."

The team held two training sessions before the devastating quake - which resulted in the deaths of at least two people and left dozens of others missing, according to local media reports - hit the region. The epicenter of the tremor was about 65 kilometers southeast of Sapporo, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA).

The tremor hit as Japan recovers from the effects of the worst typhoon, Jebi, to strike the country in 25 years. The cyclone left 11 people dead and major damage to the main airport in the region.

Japan's Hokkaido island has a population of about 5.3 million people.

"We inform that the delegation of is in perfect condition after the strong earthquake in Sapporo."

All trains were halted and the main airport closed, affecting over 200 flights and some 40,000 passengers, Kyodo News agency said.

However, La Roja is unaffected and are set to hold a final training session at 7:30 p.m. at the stadium where the match will be played at 7:00 p.m Friday.

The encounter with Japan is the Chilean's first fixture of their Asian tour.
