Amanda Teague, of Downpatrick in Northern Ireland, took to the high seas with a registrar to legally tie the knot with her long-departed lover, Jack Teague.

The 45-year-old mother of five says her love affair with Jack, who plied the waters of the Caribbean in search of treasure until he was caught and executed in the 1700s, began in 2014.

Amanda was lying in bed when she felt the energy of the spectre – who she describes as her soulmate – materialize beside her.

After years of romance, the pair were married at sea after Amanda used a spiritual medium to allow Jack to say "I do."

"He is my soulmate," Amanda, who believes her work as a pirate impersonator is what brought the pair together, told the Sun newspaper. "I am so happy. It is the perfect kind of relationship for me.

"There are a lot of people out there who don't know about spiritual relationships, but it could be right for them. I want to get the message out there."

The newlyweds are now working on a book for other women searching for "the one" in the spiritual realm, and Amanda insists sex with a ghost is no different to sex in this realm.

"It is well known that people often feel a spirit touch their hands, their face or their hair," she says. "You can literally feel the physical act of what the spirit is doing to you, and the spirit can feel it too."

Although Amanda has never seen her new husband, she imagines him as being similar to the star of movie franchise Pirates of the Caribbean.

"He is black, so he is not the same color as Johnny Depp, but he is dark-skinned and has very dark jet-black hair."
