A march from the Obelisk of Buenos Aires (capital of Argentina) to the province of Jujuy was held on Tuesday to demand the release of the indigenous leader Milagro Sala, detained two years ago.
"For Milagro freedom, for Morales repudiation," the attendees chanted as they moved from the Obelisk to the Casa de Jujuy in Buenos Aires.
"With the imprisonment of Milagro and other comrades like Zannini, D'Elia, Esteche, Argentina is demonstrating that if you engage in dissident politics the price is jail," denounced the head of Ate capital, Daniel Catalano.
On the eve of the march, Sala published an open letter in which she claimed to be a victim of "Argentine judicial schemes" and asked her comrades to continue the fight "so that needs become rights."
"They believe that with this arbitrary prison they have destroyed us. Know that you are strengthening us" was the title of the letter, in which she indicated that, with her arbitrary detention," they began a fierce persecution of anyone who thinks differently ".
