International Safe Abortion Day

September 28 marks the 28th day of global action for legal and safe abortion in Latin America and the Caribbean, and feminist organizations have called for protests across the continent.

The demonstrations aim to pressure governments for secular sexual education with a preventive approach, besides free and legal abortion, in times when women rarely enjoy full rights over their own bodies.

The international march comes almost two months after the Argentine senate ruled against the safe abortion bill that was being promoted by feminist organizations and progressive members of the legislative branch.
